Data integration was once seen as a luxury. Now it’s become essential for connecting all parties, companies, and organizations in the pharmaceutical and food products industries.

The world is witnessing significant advancements in global data sharing, making this integration more necessary than ever.

At GS1 Egypt, we are committed to staying ahead of technological advancements that can enhance and simplify business operations.

We are proud to introduce the Gsync service, which marks a significant improvement in supply chain management and communication between companies and consumers.

This service is a powerful tool that allows all parties in the supply chain to interact seamlessly and exchange information efficiently.

Gsync’s role in 3 key sectors

How Gsync works

GS1 Gsync service plays a role in 3 main sectors and collaborations.

These are:

The Egyptian Tax Authority’s e-invoice

When importing products from outside Egypt, companies must issue tax invoices for these products.

By subscribing to the Gsync service, companies can simply share the product barcodes with us. We will then communicate them to the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) portal, allowing you to easily obtain electronic invoices (e-invoices) for these products.

The Unified Procurement Authority

Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) is responsible for purchasing medical supplies for all government hospitals, pharmacies, and medical establishments.

If products or drugs are imported, they carry global GS1 barcodes. Using the Gsync solution, companies can share data and barcodes with the UPA, ensuring procedures can be completed smoothly.

The Egyptian Drug Authority

The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) is responsible for regulating and monitoring the pharmaceutical and medical tech industry in Egypt. Its role includes dispensing medications, controlling quality, ensuring safety, licensing healthcare facilities, and establishing standards for medical devices.

Since a significant percentage of medicines, supplies, and medical devices are imported, the Gsync service facilitates the easy sharing of comprehensive drug data, helping companies use it with the EDA.

How does Gsync work?

Gsync serves as a communication gateway and supply chain management tool that connects different companies. It synchronizes global product data across local markets, creating opportunities for improved product entry.

Gsync facilitates the integration of your company’s data with any other entity or system that relies on the global GS1 system for product coding.

This system is widely used by many government agencies, including the e-invoice,  the EDA, and the UPA, particularly for import and export processes.
